Hello, We have been struggling for about 1 year now since the upgrade of our old 2003 R2 network to our new 2008 and 2008 R2 domain. We have 1 2003 R2 (32bit) server left which is the forest root DC/AD/DNS replicating to a 2008 R2 (64Bit) DC/AD/DNS/DHCP. We have an issue where the Mac's which have worked correctly under the old system are intermittently showing the hidden home folders from two other 2008 R2 member servers providing file services. We have tested the following but have so far not succeeded: • If the hidden folder is on 2003 server or 2008 32 bit it works correctly in every case. • On the server 2008 R2 system it provides roughly about 50% mapped correctly. Otherwise it shows a '?'
• We have tested this over all versions of OSX ranging from 10.4 fully updated to 10.6 again fully updated, but without any change in the random mapping. • We have also tested modifying the domain controllers policy/local policies/security options but to no avail, we still get the same issues with roughly the same percentage of successful map's. • Everything points to the incompatible SMB protocol (2.1), we have tried to switch off SMB 2.0 in the registry along with special cache settings regarding the SMB 2.0, however yet again noting has made the issue go away. • We tried to re-create the shares using the new windows 2008 family 'Share & Storage Management Wizard' again with no avail.
